The brand is an auction
"two men and a truck" gets 110,000 U.S. searches a month, and other advertisers bid on it (Keyword Planner, Oct 22, 2026).
Franchise PPC management means running Google Ads for each location inside the limits of the franchise agreement: your territory, the brand trademark and the ad fund. The franchise name is often a paid auction of its own. In October 2026 the top Google bid for "servpro near me" reached $63.11 and for "mr rooter near me" $38.17 (Google Keyword Planner, U.S.). Eloari runs franchise Google Ads for a flat fee from $900 a month, month to month, with the account in your business's name.

01 — What is different
A franchise owner advertises a name they don't own, inside a territory someone else drew, next to other owners with the same name. The International Franchise Association expects U.S. franchise units to grow from 832,521 to 845,000 in 2026 (+1.5%), with commercial and residential services among the fastest-growing sectors (IFA 2026 Franchising Economic Outlook).
Six things only a franchise account has:
"two men and a truck" gets 110,000 U.S. searches a month, and other advertisers bid on it (Keyword Planner, Oct 22, 2026).
Item 12 of the FDD defines your territory. Location targeting follows it, not a round radius.
Item 13 covers the marks. Using the name in ad text is the franchisor's call.
Item 11 describes the ad fund and any co-op. Your ads fill its gaps, not repeat it.
Google allows one ad per business or site in each ad location, so units sending clicks to one brand site can block each other.
Ads that recruit franchisees fall under the FTC Franchise Rule and, in some states, must be filed first.
FDD (Franchise Disclosure Document) is the disclosure the FTC Franchise Rule requires before a franchise is sold, in 23 numbered items. Ad fund is the pooled marketing money franchisees pay to the brand. Co-op is a local or regional group of franchisees that pools money for its own market. Brand term is a search that contains the franchise name, such as "mr rooter near me."
02 — Brand vs. trade
Less than the trade search, but rarely close to free. In October 2026 the top U.S. bid for "servpro near me" was $63.11 against $105.56 for "water damage restoration near me," and "mr rooter near me" was $38.17 against $82.33 for "plumber near me" (Google Keyword Planner). Someone is paying for those brand clicks, and it may not be you.
Brand search vs. the trade search it competes with. U.S. monthly searches and the high end of Google's top-of-page bid, Keyword Planner, October 22, 2026:
| Franchise brand search | Brand: searches · top bid | Trade search: searches · top bid |
|---|---|---|
| servpro near me | 12,100 · $63.11 | water damage restoration near me: 165,000 · $105.56 |
| window world | 49,500 · $36.43 | replacement windows near me: 49,500 · $100.50 |
| mr rooter near me | 3,600 · $38.17 | plumber near me: 823,000 · $82.33 |
| mr electric near me | 1,300 · $23.90 | electrician near me: 368,000 · $55.00 |
| two men and a truck near me | 22,200 · $21.02 | movers near me: 301,000 · $37.76 |
| mosquito joe near me | 2,400 · $18.11 | mosquito control near me: 27,100 · $34.59 |
| lawn doctor near me | 3,600 · $16.00 | lawn care near me: 74,000 · $14.47 |
| molly maid near me | 3,600 · $12.97 | house cleaning services near me: 60,500 · $13.75 |
| sport clips | 1,000,000 · $0.98 | haircut near me: 1,220,000 · $2.15 |
In home services the brand click ran 36% to 60% of the trade click (Window World 36%, Mr. Rooter 46%, Servpro 60%): cheaper than the trade, but a real line in the budget. In lawn care and cleaning the brand cost about as much, or more: "lawn doctor near me" topped out at $16.00, above "lawn care near me" at $14.47. For haircuts the brand click is under a dollar, so the work goes to trade searches and the map.
Top-of-page bid is Google's estimate of what advertisers have paid to show above the organic results; we show the high end of the range. Brands appear only as public search data; Eloari has no relationship with them. For other trades, see how much Google Ads costs for a small business.
03 — Who bids on you
Up to four kinds of advertiser, and Google treats each one differently. Google's trademark policy does not restrict trademarks used as keywords, but restricts a direct competitor using the trademark in the ad text. Its Unfair advantage policy bars "trying to show more than one ad for your business, app, or site in a single ad location" (Google Advertising Policies Help, checked October 22, 2026).
| Who | What Google allows | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A competitor | May bid on your brand as a keyword, not use it in ad text after the owner complains. | Run your own brand campaign. Complaints go through the franchisor, who owns the mark. |
| Another franchisee of your brand | Not addressed by name; Google doesn't publish how it treats separate owners sending clicks to one brand site. | Each unit targets only its territory and uses its own location page. |
| The franchisor or the ad fund | Since April 21, 2025, a top ad can also show lower on the page, but "advertisers will continue to never bid against themselves." | Ask whether the fund buys brand searches in your territory. If so, spend on trade searches. |
| Lead sellers and look-alike names | May bid on the brand as a keyword. "three men and a truck" draws 1,300 searches at high competition. | Read the search terms weekly; move misspellings and near-names into your brand campaign. |
Google warns at least 7 days before it suspends an account for an Unfair advantage violation (Google Advertising Policies Help, October 2026). The owner of the mark can authorize your account to use it in ad text through Google's Trademark Troubleshooter. This is our reading of Google's policies, not legal advice.
04 — The setup
Start from the franchise agreement, not from the ad account. Under the FTC Franchise Rule, Item 12 must state any minimum territory and, if it is not exclusive, carry the sentence "You will not receive an exclusive territory. You may face competition from other franchisees, from outlets that we own…" (16 CFR 436.5(l), eCFR, October 2026). That sentence tells you who else may be in your auction.
| Step | Where it comes from | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Read the three items | FDD Items 11, 12, 13 | Ad fund, territory, trademark: what the brand already buys and what you may not do. |
| 2. Put the brand-term rule in writing | Franchisor and neighbors | Who bids on the brand name, where, and whether your ad text may use it. |
| 3. Settle who owns the account | Agreement | If the brand allows it, the account is opened under your business and we are added as a user. If it requires its own account, we work inside it. |
| 4. Draw the territory in Google | Item 12 | ZIP codes or counties that match the contract, targeting people in the area, not people interested in it. |
| 5. Split brand from trade | Search terms | A small, protected brand budget; most of the money on trade searches. |
| 6. One location page per unit | Local page | Your phone, hours and service area. Never the national home page. |
| 7. Track calls to jobs | Call tracking, CRM | Tracking verified before spend begins; cost per lead and per job for your territory. |
Two or three territories get one campaign and one report each, so a strong market doesn't hide a weak one. For pay-per-lead ads, see Local Services Ads management.
05 — The ad fund
Item 11 of every FDD must say whether the franchisor "must spend any amount on advertising in the area or territory where the franchisee is located," how the fund was split between production, media and administration last year, and "the percentage of advertising funds, if any, that the franchisor uses principally to solicit new franchise sales" (16 CFR 436.5(k), eCFR, October 2026). Those answers decide what your local budget should buy.
| Question | Where to find it | Why it matters for Google Ads |
|---|---|---|
| Does the brand spend in my territory? | Item 11, advertising program | If not, every local search is yours to buy. If yes, ask which searches, so you don't bid against your own fee. |
| Is the fund's media local, regional or national? | Item 11 | National TV builds the name; it doesn't answer "plumber near me" in your ZIP code. |
| Do I pay into a local co-op? | Item 11, cooperatives | A co-op that already runs Search in your market changes your plan more than anything else on this list. |
| How much of the fund sells new franchises? | Item 11, the percentage line | Money spent recruiting franchisees doesn't bring customers to your door. |
06 — For franchisors
Ads aimed at future franchisees follow franchise law. Under 16 CFR 436.9(c), any earnings or sales figure shown to a prospective franchisee must be in Item 19 of the FDD and carry a clear warning that a new franchisee's results may differ. In California, a franchise ad must be filed with the regulator at least three business days before it first runs (Cal. Corp. Code §31156).
These buyers are searching in volume, at low click prices. U.S., Keyword Planner, October 22, 2026:
| Franchise buyer search | Monthly searches | Top-of-page bid |
|---|---|---|
| fitness franchise | 40,500 | $3.46 – $12.87 |
| franchise opportunities | 12,100 | $2.39 – $12.40 |
| home care franchise | 8,100 | $5.86 – $20.93 |
| senior care franchise | 6,600 | $6.03 – $19.88 |
| franchises for sale | 6,600 | $1.84 – $9.50 |
| home service franchise | 3,600 | $3.46 – $12.62 |
An IFA article (2019) counted eight states that require franchise advertising to be filed before use, with waiting periods of three to seven business days. California exempts website communications if the franchisor files a verified notice (10 CCR 310.156.3). An earnings headline that isn't in Item 19 is what 436.9 prohibits, however cheap the click. Franchise counsel clears the copy; Eloari runs the campaign, not the legal review.
07 — Watch
In this Eloari video, ten everyday searches are ranked by click price, from about $1 for "pizza delivery" to $270.33 for "emergency plumber" in Phoenix, against $42.81 in Wichita (Google Keyword Planner, October 2026). The same math applies to a franchise territory: price the customer, not the click.
How Much Does Google Ads Cost? $1 to $270 a Click. Eloari, October 2026 (12 min). If your location's account already runs, our Google Ads audit page lists what to check first.
08 — Who runs it
Jonatã Ariel Silveira
President, Eloari Management Group · Meta Business Partner
Accounts are run by the founder, not passed to a junior after the sales call. Eloari currently manages more than $100,000 per week in advertising spend across client accounts, in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
09 — Pricing
Typical U.S. agency pricing (see the main page, October 2026) is a flat retainer of $1,000 to $5,000 a month for small and mid-sized accounts, or 10% to 20% of ad spend, most often 15%, plus setup fees of $2,500 to $10,000. Eloari charges a flat fee from $900 a month, with no setup fee, no percentage and no markup on media.
| Tier | Monthly fee | Suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $900/mo | Ad spend under $5,000/mo |
| Growth | $1,500/mo | Ad spend $5,000–$20,000/mo |
| Full | $2,500/mo | Ad spend $20,000+/mo |
The tier follows the ad spend in the account, not the number of territories inside it. A percentage fee grows when the brand auction gets pricier; a flat fee doesn't. You pay Google directly, the work is month to month with thirty days' notice, and what you build stays with you if you leave.
10 — Related
The franchise PPC pages we read that rank for this search (Vizion, Thrive Agency and NEWMEDIA, October 22, 2026) don't show click prices with dates, the brand-term conflict between units, Google's Unfair advantage policy, the FDD items or a price. Those are the answers on this page.
11 — Questions
Usually yes, within what the franchise agreement allows. Item 11 of the FDD says when you may use your own advertising. Read Items 11, 12 and 13 before you open an account.
They can, but they shouldn't meet in the same auction. Google's Unfair advantage policy bars more than one ad for the same business or site in a single ad location, and Google doesn't publish how it treats separate owners of one brand. Target only your own territory and send clicks to your own location page.
Usually yes, with a small, separate budget. Competitors may bid on your name as a keyword, and brand clicks were not cheap in October 2026: up to $63.11 for "servpro near me" (Keyword Planner, U.S.). First check whether the franchisor's fund already covers brand searches in your territory.
Ideally the business that pays for it, with the agency added as a user. Some systems require brand-controlled accounts, and then the agreement wins. Ask in writing who keeps the account and its history if you leave.
Sometimes, partly. Item 11 must disclose whether the franchisor spends any amount in your territory and how the fund was spent last year. Ask which searches it buys locally, and spend your budget on what's left.
Only if the figure is in Item 19 of the FDD, has written substantiation and carries a clear warning that a new franchisee's results may differ (16 CFR 436.9(c)). Some states, California among them, also require ads to be filed before use. Have franchise counsel clear the copy.
